The Design of the Conference
Your Tomorrows' Leadership conference is designed to explore these questions with the level of synergy and excitement of a good coffee break, combined with the substantive activity and characteristic of a good meeting. For this we have created a loose but focused programme allowing people to set their own agendas and to link up with those who share common interests.
The conference will work in part with a technique known as "Open Space". This utilises participants' talents, interests, and resources. The conference will centre on your willingness to seek out new ideas and people and put them together in novel ways.
Topics for the Tomorrows' Leadership inquiry 2012 have been chosen to direct our research in this area. They include:
Leadership in crisis
What leadership themes exist in the problems facing us locally, nationally and globally? Where are the leaders for a globalised world filled with disasters and financial woes? What is the leadership need in a time of environmental flux and unpredictability?
Educating leadership
What is the best way to continue to develop existing leaders? What needs to be done to help create environments and programmes that produce capable future leaders? What are the essential elements of leadership? How are these elements best studied, emulated, transferred and applied?
Leadership for conflict
How are leaders prepared for conflict? What needs to change? How can difference be better navigated?
Parenting as leadership
It is widely accepted that the origins of leadership are not exclusively genetic - nurture has its place. What is the function of pre-natal care, environment, family and education? What needs to be done to parent good leaders?
Change for leaders
What are the tools, methods, approaches, philosophies that work for leaders who need to change their organisation?
Leadership thinking
What is different about the way that leaders think? How is leadership thinking best developed? What are the fundamentals of leadership learning? How can the essence of leadership be taught? How can we be inspired towards the realisation of our own full leadership potential?
Holistic Leadership
What are the new trends toward holistic leadership as opposed to older models focused on the tasks of managers? What is driving the recent upsurge of interest in the spiritual aspect of leadership?
22nd Century Leadership
As we reflect on the difference in leadership over the last century, what predictions, aspirations, hopes and fears do we have for leadership in 2100? What is our leadership legacy for the generations to come?
